The White “Upupa Weiss,” produced by Weingut Abraham, is a label that interprets with elegance and rich aromatic intensity the classic white grape blend that is part of the customs of the area. It is a tribute to ancient viticulture, when promiscuous vineyards made from different varieties were often cultivated to produce harmonious wines each year. It conquers with its fine aromatic facet, combining the finesse of Pinot Blanc, the vertical freshness of Riesling, the intense aromas of Sauvignon Blanc and the tropical softness of Gewürztraminer.

“Upupa Weiss” Bianco from Weingut Abraham is the fruit of careful work, led by one of the vignerons who best interpret the South Tyrolean terroir, producing artisanal wines of excellent quality. The estate is managed with the utmost respect for the environment and can count on plots located in very suitable areas. The Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewürztraminer and Riesling vineyards are located in In der Lâmm, near Cornaiano, at an elevation of about 500 meters above sea level, and in Weiler Weisshaus, in the municipality of Appiano. The soils are of ancient moraine nature, with presence of granite crushed stone and porphyry of volcanic origin, poor and very draining. Grapes of the four varieties are harvested at the same time and vinified together with spontaneous fermentation in steel tanks, without temperature control. The wine matures for about ten months on the fine lees in used tonneaux, also performing malolactic fermentation, and is then bottled without filtration to maintain its expressive integrity.

Weingut Abraham’s White “Upupa Weiss” is a very interesting cuvée, all played on the perfect balance of grape varieties with complementary character. Light yellow in color with bright highlights, it is characterized by intense aromas of tropical fruit, lychee, passion fruit, gooseberry, yellow-fleshed fruit, hints of citrus, floral and herbal nuances. Ample and enveloping, it presents the palate with rich and complex fruit that stretches harmoniously toward a finish marked by a lively mineral freshness. It is a white that finds excellent pairings at the table with a board of medium-aged cheeses, with white meats and spicy dishes.
