Description
Travaglini and Gattinara: a truly winning combination, which for almost sixty years has been giving labels of great quality, where Nebbiolo shows all its depth in an area of Piedmont, the Vercelli area, far from the Langhe. This Gattinara is a full-bodied and energetic red wine with a colorful and elegant olfactory range, which from the very beginning makes it clear that Travaglini is one of the leading producers in this DOCG.
The bunches of grapes come from vineyards characterized by a rocky subsoil rich in mineral salts, located at an elevation between 300 and 400 meters above sea level; after harvesting, strictly by hand, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks for about 10-15 days; then the wine is aged for 28 months in oak barrels of different capacities: after this maturation, bottling operations are carried out.
The Gattinara produced by the Travaglini winery appears in the glass with a red color tending toward garnet.
The ensemble of scents on the nose constitutes an elegant and incisive bouquet, with notes that turn from fruity to mineral, with hints also of herbs and spices. On the palate it is excellent-bodied, vigorous, with a dense tannic texture that contributes to a broad and satisfying sip. A bottle that represents one of the most authoritative expressions that Nebbiolo manages to achieve in this particular territory, to be purchased to try your hand at a great Piedmontese red wine.
